What toys will become expensive in the future?

Earning money from toys is a possibility. But that is not the reason why I started collecting. There are plenty of reasons older people collect toys. Some adult collectors that are also parents got back into toys to somehow connect with their children, it is a great avenue to bond with kids through collecting and playing with toys.

Although, that is also true to me, I got into toy collecting to relive my childhood and remember the past. Additionally, there is this reality that back then, I couldn’t buy the toys that I wanted to buy for financial reasons. But now that I have the means any toy I want (but that doesn’t mean I would be shelling out thousands of dollars hehe…), it’s good to buy and experience that childhood joy of many moons ago.

Anyway, going back to the main topic, making money on the internet through toys is possible but not easy. One may need that certain level of skill such as buying toys at their normal price in the hopes that its price will go higher in the future.

Unfortunately, predicting which toys will become expensive in the future is challenging even for seasoned collectors. There are various factors to consider such as trends, popularity, scarcity, even collector demand.

But thanks to the internet, it is now possible to somewhat predict what toys can become expensive by using historical patterns and potential emerging trends with a few search on the internet or by combing through social media.

Below are a few categories and examples of toys that could potentially become valuable and expensive collectibles:

Vintage Toys
Vintage toys from past decades appeal to present adults who don’t have enough money to buy the toy when they are kids. Because of this, there is a market for older toys which is why they can be expensive to the right buyer. Such vintage toys could include Star Wars action figures, vintage Barbie dolls, and classic Transformers from the 80s.

Limited Edition Collectibles
Toys released as limited editions or special editions often become highly sought after by collectors simply because they are produced in limited numbers (limited-run in collector speak). Since these are not produced in large quantity, it’s quite obvious that these toys will become expensive in the future.

Older Gaming Consoles and Games
Kids will usually play with their computer consoles and games. This is the reason why it’s understable if such survived in mint condition or has never been played at all. Just think of an unopened and unused Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Sega Genesis popular games of these systems. Financially-challenged folks when they are kids but are now high-earners would definitely be target customers of these.

Movie and TV Show Memorabilia
These are my favorite because I’m a movie and TV show car collector. But that is quite obvious if you’ve been looking around my blog. You might be wondering if I have any toy that become expensive. Let’s just say, that I have a transformer toy which I got for 4,000 but was able to sold it for 12,000 (read it here: Sold for 12K Earn Money With Transformers).

That’s just about it. Are you also a toy collector? Let me know through the comments and maybe we can trade some items.
