Netero Dislikes the Dark Continent?

Every Hunter X Hunter fan knows that Chairman Netero is the strongest Nen user in the HxH verse (not counting of course Meruem since the Ant King absorbed the powers and essence of other Nen users).

The strength of Chairman Netero cannot be refuted as the facts are stated clearly:

(a) he is the only person alive who survived a fight with Maha Zoldyck (Killua's grandfather);

(b) Zeno Zoldyck acknowledges his abilities;

(c) he has the respect of other Nen users; 

(d) his Nen prowess dwarfs all other Nen users

Strongest Nen attack in the HxH verse

Chairman Netero also apparently has the strongest Nen attack in Hunter X Hunter. No matter who you threw or match against him (Chrollo, Hisoka, Ging, etc...), his 100-Type Guanyin Bodhisattva will seemingly emerge victorious.

It will only take one slap of this monstrous Nen personification to hurt (remember how far Pitou was hurled with one hit). So basically, unless, the opponent has extremely strong resistance, he / she will have no chance to win against the Chairman.

The Chairman’s Objective

Being a hunter, Netero has a different kind of target -- strong opponents. It was also established in both Hunter X Hunter manga and anime that he enjoys a good fight. It was also somewhat divulged that that his goal is to look for an opponent where he can go all out on the battle.

So why then is he afraid of the Dark Continent?

For those who are not aware, Netero gave the order, forbidding anyone to travel to the Dark Continent. However, it was not stated that he was afraid of it; it was more like he disliked going there.

As can be remembered, Netero twice explored the Dark Continent. In both of these cases, he was accompanied by Zigg Zoldyck and Linne Horsdoeuvre. However, it seems that the adventure left a bad taste in his mouth since the Dark Continent is more inclined in survival (poisonous gas, deadly disease, etc...) rather than finding and facing powerful opponents (it's doubtful that the gigantic monsters there have brains or the notion and passion to enjoy a fight).

So to prevent Hunters from gauging their skill by surviving a trip to the Dark Continent, the strongest character in Hunter X Hunter (Chairman Netero) forbade going there -- since one can always measure their ability by fighting other Nen users.
