Ging Freecs is strong because

If you are up to date with the recent manga issues of Hunter X Hunter, then you probably know the reason why Gin Freecs is such a powerful character.

For the benefit of those who are not aware, Gin Freecs is powerful simply because, he's father is apparently also one of the most strongest characters in the HxH universe. In fact, he might be more powerful than Chairman Netero.

According to issue 344, Gin explained that his father is an explorer and author who wrote the book entitled "Journey to the World". The book is actually a guide to the Dark Continent and is composed of two volumes: East and West.

The East edition is currently in the hands of V6, while the West city's whereabouts is currently unknown. Gin further explained in HxH issue 344 that there are three possible reasons for this:
  • It was never found
  • It was never written
  • Don Freecss is not yet finish and is currently exploring the West side of the Dark Continent to complete the guide

Regardless of any of the three options above, the fact that Don Freecss wrote a guide mapping out half of the Dark Continent  clearly shows his extra ordinary abilities.

As can be remembered, even Chairman Netero and his Seiren group (where Killua's great great grandfather is a member) seems to have a hard time in the Dark Continent. But as for the case of Don Freecss, we had a lone wolf exploring alone and writing a book for crying out loud.

The existence and introduction of Don Freecss also somewhat explains why Ging is very hard to find -- apparently, he's also in the Dark Continent creating his own adventures or looking for good ole dad.

Nonetheless, it would be interesting how the history of the Freecss pan out. One aspect that made Hunter X Hunter popular is the story development of Gon finding his dad -- and now, we have a father who is also looking for his father.
