Choosing
an online career can be quite problematic especially for new graduates.
A dilemma is understandable for people who already has an existing job since
they have to consider different factors such as tenure, benefits, etc... but
the same thing can be said also for new graduates. Although the factors are
different from those who are currently employed, the circumstance is somewhat
similar as there are also various aspects to think about.
An online
job problem new graduates may encounter is competition. Similar to
traditional workforce, online job openings are limited and can be filled up
pretty quickly. New graduates must remember that there are also other new
graduates. If these other new graduates cannot secure a position from conventional
jobs, they would also be looking for online opportunities.
Competition
from "older" graduates (or those from a previous batch) who cannot
secure a traditional job also exists. Additionally, they may even accept a
lower their rate just to grab an online project since they are vacant for such
a long time already.
Another
problem new graduates
may have is lacking experience. Even online clients are looking for those that
have experience or who can work with minimal supervision. Simply because they
don't want to invest much time training and guiding new recruits to the online
corporate world.
A career
dilemma is another possible problem new graduates may have when choosing an
online career. One reason for this is that they might feel ashamed from their
parents if they cannot find a job (working online not yet that mainstream and
some even have negative views about it) given the amount of money and time
invested just to acquire that collegiate degree.
It is also
possible that they would be downed by the fact that there is no job opening for
their finished course or degree. For example, a computer programmer graduate
may be forced to accept a data encoder job. Currently, online job openings
flooding the market are Virtual Assistants, Transcriptionists, and Data Encoding.
These are
just probable problems or realities new graduates must face when looking into an
online career. It is still a job and like any other jobs, it is not simple or
easy money. But patience is a major ingredient to succeed. Though a reliable
client also helps in a huge way.
